The Clearwater Play:

This is one of the main growth engines for the heavy oil portfolio. Baytex is the first company to develop this big, shallow, high-quality reservoir with innovative multilateral horizontal drilling and thermal recovery methods.

The method is very repeatable and constitutes the core of the company's ability to make dependable, high-margin production.

Operational Excellence:

The company's Peace River assets are equipped with leading-edge infrastructure and gas conservation initiatives that lower operating costs and support its sustainability metrics.

2. Light Oil and NGL Assets (Duvernay & Viking)

Baytex's light oil assets are the mainstay of the company's diversification strategy, injecting the portfolio with barrels of production that are not only of higher value but also yield strong returns.

Pembina Duvernay:

The area represents the company's single largest growth opportunity. Baytex is aiming to have a full and continuous one-rig drilling program by 2027, thus significantly ramping up both production and field-level operating income by 2028.

The Duvernay is a deep, rich liquids shale play with a long drilling inventory of low-cost wells secured for decades.

Viking Play:

The shallow light oil play in the Viking Basin is a source of high-efficiency, quick-payout drilling opportunities, cash flow, and capital allocation.
